So what is SEO? The acronym SEO is search engine optimization. All search engines have a list of results ranked by the most relevant web pages for your searched keywords. Every search engine has a different kind of algorithm on how it works, but they are similar. When I say a web page, many of you think about a standalone website that some web designers created. Yes, that has web pages, but I am also talking about your social media accounts like LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Let’s focus on optimizing your page for Google since that is the most used search engine. There are hundreds of factors that go into whether your webpage should be a top search result for Google. I will pinpoint the biggest key factors, so you do not have to spend countless hours trying to figure them out.

Value-Added Content

Making sure visitors stay on your webpage once they land on it is key to SEO. Adding value is the first thing that needs to be done on your webpage. This step takes the longest, but if there is no value to the visitor/customer on your page, they will not stay long. This will bring your average time per visit down. Google will use the average time per visit as a measuring stick to figure out if your page is relevant to the visitor who searched for it and visited it. Another way to keep visitors on your page longer is to add valuable content and add timing. What I mean by timing is how you structure key images, words, phrases into your website. For example, if you place a large picture on your page, that is the first thing visitors will see. They will take a few seconds to look at it before moving on to the other content. This helps add time to your average time per visit and every second matter. The timing of picture locations is great, but you can also add timing in the language you use. Strong word usage and transitions that keep the visitor reading will keep them longer.

Website Speed

Optimizing your website to make your pages load fast is the second thing you should work on. Think about how many times you clicked on a link to view a page, and it took too long to load. Did you wait patiently? I guess not? You just closed out of the webpage you wanted to initially open. Videos and images on your page can cause extensive loading times. This is a big factor when it comes to losing website visitors. You will see many websites publishing their videos on YouTube now and providing outbound links to the viewer. This makes it, so the visitor stays on your page, but the video loads on to another page for the person to watch. This not only keeps the visitor on your page longer but also provides the content to them faster. For images, make sure what you are uploading is not a large file size and is formatted correctly. Google has already come out and said that SEO results would start focusing on how well a page functions on cell phones soon. So your page must play well with cell phone navigation to be a top search result.

Purpose of SEO

While the key purpose of SEO is to increase and drive more traffic to the website, SEO marketers and web designers always focus on creating the right content targeted at its customers. In addition to content, the technical aspects of a website, such as tags and speed, are always a priority. Though, this kind of satisfaction doesn’t have to be perfect. It is still an area with the highest priority to produce the most favorable results and index content to match user expectations.

The methods to create content with the right search terms and tone helps search engines to rank websites and web pages accordingly. What and where a page is positioned during search results are all dependent on Search Engine algorithms. In the SEO Marketers world, this is “SEO Friendly” content.

The software that crawls websites for content evaluates, rates, and indexes web pages is a spider, an appropriate pun for the Web. The indexed content is checked against more than 200 elements such as the location, categories, and demographics. For example, when you search “Seattle SEO near me,” Search Engines will return results based on locality as well as the keywords.

Google SEO

Google, like the others, provides in-depth documentation about how to optimize content to be responsive and in line with current trends. Google SEO guidelines don’t reveal too many details about their SEO methods. But give you insight into what you should do as a business or webmaster. We, on the other hand, have years of experience in what works and what does not.

Of course, many other factors play a part in website ranking. A reputable Seattle SEO company is a key start to getting your website to rank higher and gain more website traffic.
